Professional portraits in Sydney.

Meg Matthews, shot in London for the cover of Fabulous Magazine 2006

Clients always wonder what the process is when shooting with me. Below, I have broken it down into steps for you to know what to expect.

About me.

I'm a people person who loves photography—my business is commercial portraiture for companies and individuals. I have many clients ranging from advertising clients architecture firms to small fashion businesses. I have been shooting for almost twenty years, and before that, I assisted many photographers in Sydney, New York and London. My photographic career started in London, where I shot many magazines and record labels. I now live in Sydney with my husband, two children, dog and cat.

1. Let's chat over the phone or zoom.

Once you decide, I'm the photographer for your business; I love to get on the phone (it's old fashioned, I know) and have a chat. That way, we can nut out any of your questions regarding a shoot with me. After our brainstorming, I will send you a proposal you know of shooting costs with me and any other expenses you might incur. Once you have accepted my proposal, I will book your shoot day.

2. The day before.

The day before the shoot, I love to give you a call or email to check in with you to see if everything is good to go and to try and settle any nerves you might have. I can guide you on what to wear; I am very keen on fashion, so I like to make sure the outfits you bring won't date quickly. Then, on the shoot day, I arrive with lots of equipment (I'm a former girl guide, so I like to be prepared), I get set up, and we get shooting.

3. Shoot day.

My shooting style is on the fly, and I see what you are wearing, then I scout for spots to shoot, then I get shooting. I usually like to shoot several different options for you, so you have options. Plus, it's great to have some variety. After the shoot, you will receive a link with the edit of the images within three days, and if you have decided on retouching, you can choose your image/s for retouching.

4.     Post-production.

I like to retouch my images, but I send them to my retoucher if something is tricky. Then, within the week, you will receive your high-resolution images ready for you to show to the world!

5.     Usage.

Photographers do this differently; unfortunately, there isn't an industry standard. I provide two years of worldwide usage on all of the images I send you. After that, you will incur a small fee to use the photos. We can always discuss that during the proposal process.

6.     Payment

I have fourteen-day payments terms after the invoice is issued. Another thing is that it isn't standard, but it works best for me and my business.

7.     Feedback form or google review.

I love getting feedback, terrible or amazing. As a small business, it's the way I can grow and learn.

What do you think? Does that sound easy or what? So what are you waiting for? Contact me here. Let's chat and take some pretty pictures together.
