What's in store for 2023 for me? I'm back after a very busy December and a very relaxing January. The kids are finally back at school, so I have time to think and create.

I shot this self-portrait of myself using my Profoto B2 head and Canon 1DX. One afternoon in my bedroom.

New Year, new me?

I have never been big on New Year's resolutions. I may have at one stage had some, but I have never stuck to them or realised them. Okay, I admit last year I wanted to create more of a following on socials shallow, I know, but I have been slogging away at it for so long, and I knew I could do more, so I did, and it paid off.

I love to reflect on how I am, how I could be, what I could do better, or what I could give back. So I have started to do that, but where, too, now? Good question!

I want all women to feel confident in front of the camera. So, I started shooting myself. I had fun, as you can see.

More IRL events and online.

This year I will be hosting more online events via Tiktok and IRL. I will set up my Youtube channel, a subscriber-only section where you get tips and tricks that no one else gets. It will be a wild ride because I have no idea what I'm doing! I'm just going for it, keeping on my mission to help everyone shoot better portraits.

I also want to empower women in front of the camera. Most of the feedback from my social media journey over the last few months is that most women feel awful about themselves and therefore don't have photos of themselves. They need to change how they look to fit into today's society. This is a direct result of the marketing from the beauty and fashion industry for the last fifty years. To work these days, you must get botox or fillers, dress a certain way and be a specific size. It's so hard to be a woman! I have decided not to go down the plastic surgery route for now. Do I have facials and use retinol? Yes! But that's it for now.

Don’t show these images to my kids; I’m always telling them not to jump on the bed.

Follow the people that make you feel good.

With all of this in mind this year, personal photo projects will be centred around empowering women in front of the camera and real life. I figured I would start shooting myself in my bedroom, having fun and no inhibitions. With that said, some women have been doing this around the world on Instagram that you should follow if you want to feel better about yourself @thesilverlining_1970 @elyse_myers @luinluland and @and.bloom

Unfollow all the brands and people who make you feel like shit, and life is too short to spend time worrying about how you look. It's about how you feel.

On that note, I feel good. I'm excited to see what the year brings, and I'm excited to have you along for the ride. So please email me here and tell me how you are feeling. I want to hear from you.
